How Customisation Works
Every JackalBerry piece is made to order. Choose the bag, the leather and a custom lining, then add their name inside.
Nothing at JackalBerry comes off a shelf. Since 2013 we’ve handmade customised leather and canvas bags in South Africa, each one built around the person it’s for. Here’s what you can change, how long it takes and what it costs.
Step by step
Four choices that make it theirs
1Choose the pieceFrom card wallets to full leather weekenders, or ask us for a custom size or design.
2Choose the leatherGenuine local leather, or durable canvas with leather trim. Colour options are on each product page.
3Design the liningPick from our shweshwe and printed linings, or design one from scratch around them.
4Add their nameTheir name or initials on a leather label inside, plus an engraved luggage tag if you like.

The lining is what makes a JackalBerry different. It can be as simple as a classic print or as personal as their children’s drawings.

Can I see the lining before you make the bag?
For a custom lining, we shape the design with you and confirm it before we start making.
What if I don’t know what lining to choose?
Tell us about the person and the occasion in our 2-minute gift brief, and we’ll suggest ideas.
Can I add a gift message?
Yes. Add it at checkout and we’ll print it on a card in the box. Gift wrapping is available on request.
Is the leather genuine?
Yes. We use local genuine leather, and our canvas range combines durable canvas with genuine leather trim.
